One of the topics that caught my attention in tonight's discussion was about how to decide if people are conscious or not. I found the research interesting because the researcher used electroencephalograms to conduct the research. Electroencephalograms are traditionally one of the main test used to detect epilepsy and other disorder in the brain. The result the researchers found from the experiment varied because some people had little to no response to the test but later appeared to be fully conscious.
I found it interesting as well. More importantly we still can not determined when someone is still capable of consciousness even though in a coma. The article and the research make it clear we still we don't have the ability to determine when someon e is dead.
