Week Two Is The Universe Weird?

In my opinion I think that the universe is weird. The reason that I find that the universe is weird because I do not think that we have full understanding of it. There are still mysteries in the physics and one of the biggest mysteries is why the universe consist of more matter than antimatter. Mechanics imply that we should have equal amounts of each. At this current time there is no model of physics that can explain this. Although there has been advancements in research in this area it is not completely understood yet.

Week 2 My Comments On Causality

My thoughts on causality is that it is straightforward. I agree that there is a clear relationship between cause and effect. Causality is one of the fundamental laws of physics. It is possible to influence an event that is taking place at the moment but we cannot change an event that has occurred in the past because it is impossible to go back in time.

Week 2 My Reflection On Uncertainty

My thoughts on Heisenberg's uncertainty principle is that there have been many experiments set up to beat the uncertainty principle. It appears that principle is very accurate because it has been highly scrutinized and it still stands up. When I read about the Bohr-Einstein debate I was able to gain a better understanding of the principle. Heisenberg's uncertainty principle states the a atomic-scale physical properties can only be described with a limited degree of accuracy because momentum and position in space. The two properties are independent but have shown to be connected.

Week 1 Discussion

Can we slow time down?

I don't that time can be slowed down. I think it all depends on the person if a person is very busy they will not have very much time or feel that time is speeding up. A person who may have very little responsibility may feel they have an over abundance of time.

What are the culture implications of time?

Different cultures perceive time in a unique way. For example in the west many Americans perceive time as money. In the west it seems that we spend most of our time working or educating ourselves to achieve a financial goal. I think how time is perceived varies in each country and culture. Some cultures may perceive family time as the most important.

What about parallel universes?

In my opinion I do not believe in parallel universes or an alternative reality. I do not agree with the theory that there perhaps is an infinite number of universes. I do think there is a possibility that life exist on other planets. In order for me to agree with the theory of parallel universes there would need to be more conclusive evidence to support this theory.
Week 1 Quiz

What attracts me to Chinese Medicine?

I became involved with Chinese medicine because I have various family members that have numerous health problems. I think there is many good things about Western medicine but it also lacks in many other areas. Additionally I enjoy studying Chinese medicine because I would like to commit my life to helping others.

What of I honestly think of physics, really?

Honestly I would not be taking a physics course if it was not required. I took a physics course in high school but I do not remember much from it except it deals with matter, energy, and motion.

Now that I think about it, have I ever experienced time "slowing down" or "speeding up"?

The most recent time that I have experienced time slowing down and speeding up was when I spent time in sensory deprivation chamber. I entered a tank filled with water and 800 lbs of epsom salt. The water is at the exact same temperature as your body and the epsom salt causes to float on top of the water. While I was in the tank time passed really slow at first but once I started relaxing I lost my sense of time and several hours had passed and I did not notice.
